Virginia Enterprise Zone Program

Whether you are looking to start a new business, relocate or expand an existing business, the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program offers many advantages. Established in 1982 by the Virginia General Assembly and amended on July 1, 2005, the program assists business development and expansion in specially targeted, economically depressed areas.

By offering businesses located within these selected areas, called enterprise zones, a package of state and local incentives, the program stimulates private investment and creates jobs. Helping businesses and communities grow is the goal of the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program.

Alexandria currently has one Enterprise Zone located west of the Potomac Yard retail park and south of Four Mile Run in the Arlandria area. detailed Alexandria Enterprise Zone map (pdf)

The Commonwealth of Virginia offers State Incentives while the City of Alexandria also provides a number of Local Incentives.
