(Alexandria, VA) -- The Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, Inc. (AEDP) is pleased to announce that the FY2007 Façade Improvement Grant Program is now available citywide. Currently, any business or commercial property owner with street frontage in Alexandria can apply to receive funding. The program’s budget for this fiscal year is $100,000, and funding is distributed on a first come, first serve basis. The AEDP distributes matching grant funding of up to $1,500 per applicant, for any business, landlord, or property owner making improvements to the façades of their building. Improvements can range in size and scope, and usually encompass such works as painting, signage, landscaping, etc.

The Façade Improvement Grant Program was established in 2002 for businesses along Mt. Vernon Avenue. The program was then extended in 2005 to include King and Queen Streets in Old Town. Due to the program’s popularity and increased citywide demand, AEDP will now sponsor the program for all Alexandria City businesses and commercial property owners.
